Treacherous slush from the season’s first snowstorm filled the streets of Ottawa Friday 21 December 2012, but over a thousand First Nations Idle No More protestors, many who had travelled from hundreds of kilometers away, were undeterred. A group of women in Jingle dresses lead the march on Parliament hill with native chants and pulsating drums.

Here is a speech by Clayton Thomas-Muller, a Manitoba Cree and the Tar Sands campaign co-director for the Indigenous Environmental Network. For more on the December 21st protest see: http://www.mediacoop.ca/story/canadian-first-nations-and-mother-nature-storm-par/15237
